The breeze in the night fills my soul,
With a new surrender unto this play of love,
Many a night I wonder in the solitary darkness,
What is it to truly love a woman?
I met her in the month of June,
Bewildered in my own madness,
Frustrated, lost, drunken and bout good as dead,
On the inside.
This is no ordinary tale - for when I met her,
Time didn't slow, the colours weren't brighter,
It seemed as though, almost - we were both,
In a place of need, direction or in search of happiness.
Through the nasty streets of Thamel we strolled,
Thai Cuisine - Fine Dine, then onwards,
To Smashin - Burger - Joint,
Smoked & there was Mary on ah - Cross, a pendant.
Disastrous was I - cussin, causing scenes,
Despite my acts, she stayed,
I often wonder why? Why would she have stayed -
When so many before ran, when so many judged?
Let me start with this angels eyes,
Like an oriental doe, dark and soulful,
When I look into it, there is only one thing,
One thing that tends to happen, it makes you smile.
They say the eyes are the window to the soul,
And every time, every time I look into those eyes,
I see so much goodness, so much splendor,
Yet so much pain & still so much compassion.
Her hair, describable by smoothness of Chinese silk,
The colour as dark as the terrifying void of space,
The length as long as man's longing for love,
& when it sways, it unfurls like flags of nations.
Her nose, tilted slightly like the leaning tower of Pisa,
Spectacularly pointed like Mount Matterhorn,
Toned, untouched skin of pearly hazel,
Exquisite, Fascinating and soothing to the heart.
Slender is she with a playful attitude,
Her walk resembles that of a royal penguin,
It's one of things I love most, so carefree, so unbothered,
Liberty, Freedom, Rebellion or just unique in its own right.
It was a Saturday, the sun shining,
The crowds unfound through the asphalts of Kathmandu,
So we drove, through hills, troughs, jungles, gardens,
Fields of plantations to reach an ancient resort.
Nestled away from the bustles of the city,
We swam, ate, drank and bathed in the sun,
Ah, it was paradise, paradise found,
Hope found, happiness discovered.
Further on through the days, weeks, months,
We explored, alleyways, temples, juice bars,
Eateries, abandoned houses, cinema, music,
We discovered fears, wants, pains and tears.
Her beauty attracted many a courters & societal expectations,
Soon the siege on paradise had begun,
The world just couldn't let it be,
And so Societal Pandora's Box had been unleashed.
Lies, Controversy, Anger, Prejudice,
Treachery, Deception, Manipulation,
Jealousy, Distortion, Character Assassination,
Mass hatred, Power Plays & the worst of all -
Mass prayers for the downfall of the new found paradise!
When months go by with relentless obstruction,
It weren't just 5 to 2, but the numbers just kept growing,
But only to the left and numbers never grew on the right,
And soon it was two souls against a legion of evil.
Erosion began between the remaining 2,
Unspoken words, dissatisfaction,
Self-sabotage, inexpressible feelings,
Sadly, in time - disgust with each other.
It don't really matter though,
As above, So below, the question has been,
What is it to love a woman?
When is it too much to handle?
Her smell, my pupils dilate with her scent,
When she walks side by side,
Or when she enters the car,
Or when she throws her tantrum in anger.
She has a distinctive smile with almost bunny teeth,
But just like me, each smile hides some pain,
Her lips remind me of wild strawberries on ice,
And her laugh reminds me of innocence - Innocence!
Oh why does she think I am out to take from her?
When all I see is the shining sun or the rainbow after the storm,
Why does she listen to the very people who siege paradise?
Day after day, with intentions only to serve themselves?
Though the world rains fire & fury upon paradise,
Destiny & heavenly order led us to shelter under the same roof,
A chance, an opportunity to get away from it,
What's most thunderous is that despite it all - here we are.
Forgiveness, Persistence, Patience,
Communication, Desire, Fate,
Hope, Change, Choice, Compromise,
Sacrifice, Care & Commitment.
So this is what it means to love,
To love a woman, a man, child or animal.
